The bridge of Beigang Chrysalis resides on the banks which have the least impact of Beigang creekand is the shortest distance across the watercourse. Due to the pier of the previous nearby FuxingIron Bridge locates on the concave bank of the river, the water flow accelerates through the pier,flushing the riverbed sediment and impacting the pier, and eventually crashed the bridge. In order toavoid the disaster happened again, the new faced concrete bridge pier has streamlined round end tofollow the direction of water flow. The southward shifted new bridge therefore creates a new dialoguewith the previous broken bridge.The form of the new bridge design is inspired from the concept of "water flow." It aims to presentan image of "a soft shape with a hard texture," which echoes and connects the spirit of the BeigangDaughters of their gentle appearances and tough hearts in against the challenging homeland and thegrowing environment.
