The Light of Christ Salvation Church intents to re-create an identity within Taichung City and also plays a role of communicator in local community in order to build up a new historic and urban context which disappears in surrounding urban spaces. 

The Church itself is able to produce its own strength allowing others to anchor in becoming a part of historic context. I expect architectural mass is described as stable weight through time goes by. The sense of weight takes time, culture and history to deposit and accumulate into proper “heaviness” to express this architectural idea.

The Light of Christ Salvation Church is also constructed by memory belonging to its urban community.

The fragmentation of local memory gradually has accumulated to be a story. The weight of memory has gradually thickened to be history.

The wall in ground floor intends to reduce to be a “wall-less church”.  Its space opens to public. All spaces in ground floor and basement are for people within community to generate interaction among people. 

The Light of Christ Salvation Church also applies the concept of mental “Seven-Eleven” convenient store into design. It is a place not only for religious activities but also for local events. It becomes a hub for local people to have a place for social and religious gathering without much pressure and burden.

To define the church is a place of having dialogue between God and human.

Therefore, we apply the notion of Noah Ark as a symbol of church which comes from Bible to represent a volume of major chapel locating on the top of mass. 

It constructs with steel structure to create a long span space for praying and worship. The bottom part of church is made of concrete structure as solid platform.   

Besides, the intent to elongate walking sequence from outside to inside is to offer a peaceful experience in order to purify secular minds entering God’s dimension.
